City of Agadir

In 2025, the City of Agadir undertook the transformation of Place Al Amal, a central public space dedicated to cultural and community events.

Leblanc Illuminations supplied a tailor-made architectural lighting solution designed to enhance the site’s appeal after dark. The project combines SPO100 spotlights, SPO450 spotlights with a salt-resistant finish, DMX control and lighting synchronized with the dry-deck fountains.

The Challenge :

The project involved several major constraints: a demanding delivery schedule, a coastal environment, equipment durability and the quality of the final lighting effect.

Place Al Amal had to be ready ahead of a major public event. The solution therefore needed to be deployed with precision and efficiency, without compromising on reliability.

Salt exposure was another key challenge. In a coastal environment such as Agadir, selecting the right equipment was essential. The solution had to withstand demanding conditions over time while delivering a modern, cohesive lighting experience synchronized with the square’s dry-deck fountains.

The Solution :

Leblanc Illuminations acted as a specialist supplier, technical partner and advisor to the project owner.

The team supported the City of Agadir in selecting the lighting fixture best suited to the project. A standard solution would not have been sufficient. It had to take into account the site, its uses, the coastal environment and the desired visual effect.

The solution includes:

  • 36 SPO100 spotlights;
  • 100 tailor-made SPO450 spotlights from the HALTO range;
  • a salt-resistant treatment specifically designed to enhance durability;
  • DMX control to create coloured lighting scenes;
  • lighting synchronization with the dry-deck fountains.

This tailor-made approach transforms the square into a vibrant public space, capable of changing atmosphere to suit each event. The lighting does more than illuminate: it shapes the visitor experience, guides the eye and gives the city a distinctive nighttime identity.

The Result :

Place Al Amal now benefits from a more modern, immersive lighting scheme, better suited to public use.

The results are technical, aesthetic and urban:

  • 36 SPO100 spotlights integrated into the project;
  • 100 tailor-made SPO450 spotlights installed;
  • 1 solution designed to withstand salt exposure;
  • 1 lighting system synchronized with the dry-deck fountains;
  • 1 strengthened nighttime identity for Place Al Amal.

Feedback has been highly positive. Residents appreciate the lighting atmosphere and the square’s enhanced appeal after dark. Local officials have highlighted the project’s aesthetic and functional success, as well as its positive impact on the city’s image.

This project demonstrates that successful urban architectural lighting relies on three key pillars: the right product, adaptation to the site and expert technical support. In Agadir, Leblanc Illuminations delivered a tailor-made, durable solution designed to enhance major events. For cities and local authorities, architectural lighting is becoming a powerful driver of attractiveness, identity and the public experience.
