The challenge: creating an immersive evening experience for a luxury hotel

Located in the heart of Pennsylvania, Nemacolin is one of the most iconic luxury resorts in the United States. Regularly recognized by the Forbes Travel Guide and featured in Vogue, the resort stands out for its elegant architecture, exceptional natural landscapes, and high-end guest experience. Against this backdrop of excellence, the resort’s nighttime lighting had to meet particularly high standards.

The project’s goal was to enhance the site’s appeal in winter by transforming Nemacolin into a nighttime destination in its own right. Beyond simple lighting, the aim was to create an immersive, refined, and memorable lighting experience perfectly aligned with the venue’s DNA.

Several key challenges shaped the project’s design:

• Preserve existing vegetation and landscapes

• Integrate sustainable, high-performance, and aesthetically pleasing LED solutions

Each installation is part of a comprehensive lighting design journey, enhancing the spaces and reinforcing the resort’s luxury positioning.

The solution:  a custom LED lighting design conceived as a holistic concept 

To meet these high standards, Nemacolin entrusted this large-scale project to Leblanc Illuminations, an international specialist in professional lighting design and high-end architectural lighting. The teams adopted a comprehensive approach based on three key pillars: creativity, immersion, and sustainability.

The project began with an in-depth study—both technical and aesthetic—aimed at identifying the resort’s strategic areas to be highlighted. This detailed analysis enabled the design of a cohesive lighting journey, perfectly integrated into the site’s natural environment and architecture.

The solution developed is based in particular on:

• The creation of more than 850 custom LED light displays
• The use of bespoke designs and high-end materials
• The implementation of an evolving lighting design, alternating between intimate atmospheres and spectacular sequences

Together, these elements form a fluid lighting grid that naturally guides visitors from the reception areas to the gardens and outdoor spaces. The project was carried out in collaboration with Artistic Holiday Designs, a local American partner, ensuring efficient implementation in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements. 

The result: a strong lighting identity and a lasting impact
